Simplex SP Portable 35mm Motion Picture Film Projector Survivor 1935 Movie Nice! This is a rare Simplex SP portable projector. It is an early sound machine. It dates from the mid 30's. It is in fantastic shape for its age.
I do not believe it was used much. As you can see the inside of the reel magazines are not scratched from bent reels. The leather covering is in nice shape. One thing that is very difficult to find is the bluing on the lamp to be in this condition. Typically the heat from the arc would burn it off and you would have rusted tin.
This projector comes with two lamp houses. The low intensity carbon arc and an incandescent which could be used on a smaller screen. I included a picture of it as well but not installed. What I feel is special is that this machine is capable of running 4000' reels. At this period of time 2000' was the norm and what was used in every movie theater. This is the first large magazine of this time period I have encountered. The rewind is also special as it will accommodate these larger reels. The one in the photo I put in there for reference. It is a 1000' 10 reel.
The projector breaks down into a number of pieces. I suggest that we use them for packing. Total weight will probably be around 350 pounds. Flat lens (2 different sizes). Beyond that you will need to assist. You are welcome to pick this up, but if that is not practical I can pack it on a pallet. I can get you a quote with a zip code. I oiled the machine up and it ran just as it should. It did leak the oil out over a period of days. It maybe the gasket on the drain that has dried.
That's an easy fix. If it is the main gasket that will require a larger effort. It depends what your plans are for it. You can run film on it.Let me know if you have any questions.
